‘More & More’ by TWICE, A Track Review

For a song about excess, TWICE’s latest single is severely lacking.

Come a new era in the TWICE canon, celebrity K-Pop nonet, TWICE, has released yet another eponymous project after their phenomenal release of Feel Special less than a year ago — and it was their most glamorous single yet that showed us signs of maturity within the group.

Maturity; it was this same characteristic that made Feel Special, as its title suggests, special, which the group tried to capitalize on as they were teasing More & More’s release with short, half-minute trailers and such.

And indeed so, More & More was unlike the group’s past, more innocent and carefree releases; the production is more subtle this time around, taking hints from bedroom pop aesthetics, and even the visuals from the music video, which I thought was great, were bolder compared to their previous works.

However, More & More is all form with little to no substance; it’s only as mature as how it flaunts itself to be. With the group attempting to be as stylish as they can be, they seem to have forgotten to make a good song; the hook was weak, the beat, let alone the lyrics, was forgettable, and apart from Dahyun and Chaeyoung’s sticky rap verse, none of the verses from the other members were memorable.

I hope the EP turns out great.

5/10
